Carson College Annual Events Offer Industry Insights to Business Students and Communities

As an integral part of Washington’s research-oriented land-grant institution, the Carson College of Business creates value for business and academic communities by hosting the annual Power Breakfast, Business Technology Symposium, and Walton Lecture events, along with industry speakers throughout the year. In 2021 a mix of globally competitive business leaders and entrepreneurs shared their professional insights through Carson College panels and lectures.

Ryan Sommerfeldt Parlays Passion for Learning into University Career

Ryan Sommerfeldt, a new accounting faculty member, helps students learn how to clean and manipulate data to run various analyses and create meaningful data visualizations. He began teaching courses in data analytics and managerial accounting this year. In the spring, he’ll teach an introduction to managerial accounting course where students learn various skills that will help them generate and use accounting data for making business decisions.

Pullman Sales Program Acquires New Assistant Professor Alec Pappas

When the Carson College of Business developed a new sales program and began recruiting faculty, Alec Pappas took note from over 2,000 miles away in Tallahassee, Florida. His doctoral work at Florida State University focused on intraorganizational networks, business-to-business strategy, and sales. And he was heavily involved in the university sales program and had other professional sales experience.

Class Helps WSU Athletes Explore Name, Image, and Likeness Opportunities

In July, the National Collegiate Athletic Association adopted an interim policy that allows college athletes to benefit financially from their name, image, and likeness. To help WSU athletes explore opportunities under the new policy, the Carson College of Business is offering a 1-credit entrepreneurship class, which is open to all student-athletes.
