Carson College of Business Dean’s Message

Dean's Message

Welcome to the WSU Carson College of Business. I’m proud to share with you the things that make our college a welcoming environment for the best business education in the Pacific Northwest. Whether in Pullman or at our campuses across the state, Carson faculty, staff, and academic advisors genuinely care about students and go the extra mile to help them find success.

At the Carson College of Business, we provide insight and opportunity through the study of business and the power of our community, for Washington state and the world. This mission drives everything we do.

Insight and opportunity go together—our faculty’s globally recognized research insights help shape the opportunities we create for our students as well as for business communities in Washington state and the world.

From undergraduate and graduate degrees to professional and continuing education, our nationally ranked programs help students develop marketable skills based on a deep understanding of and involvement in the world around them. We build partnerships across WSU campuses and engage with our colleagues in other schools and colleges, as well as the broader business community, to enhance our rigorous programming. Entrepreneurial opportunities abound within our programs, and students bring distinction to our university and region with their successful business ventures and performance in business plan competitions.

Developing students’ global business mindset has long been part of our focus and is critical for entering today’s workforce. Our nationally recognized undergraduate international business programs lead WSU in providing global learning experiences. Through our many study abroad options, internships, and partnerships with institutions in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, and Tanzania, we offer interested students life-changing international experiences before they graduate. This training is particularly important for future business professionals who will be influencing Washington state’s economy that is integrally linked to the wider world.

Regionally, we’ve made recent investments in our Everett, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver campuses, expanding degree programs and opening new avenues to accommodate the needs of today’s business students. Trailblazing ventures into online education have produced award-winning programs that are flexible, relevant, and convenient for working people without diminishing the value of the on-campus experience. Together, our campuses work as one system to uphold hold WSU’s land-grant mission committed to providing education for anyone willing to work for it.

Carson College graduates are the best at representing the value of a WSU degree wherever they go, creating a deep impression on everyone who learns about the “Cougar Nation.” While their success clearly depends on their own aspirations and efforts, it also reflects the power of our community—dedicated faculty, staff, alumni, and members of our advisory boards.

Whether this message reaches you as an external audience member or someone within the WSU community, I encourage you to consider how you might engage with us to support the continued success of our students and programs.

Go Cougs!
