Editor, Tax Analysts

Cara Griffith is the Editor in Chief of Tax Analysts’ daily news publications, including Tax Notes Today, State Tax Today, and Worldwide Tax Daily, and its weekly magazines, including Tax Notes, State Tax Notes, and Tax Notes International. In her leadership role, Cara provides strategic oversight for daily and weekly publications (print and electronic); supervises and guides a staff of editors, writers, reporters and support personnel; and coordinates coverage with other editorial departments. Cara also works closely with IT, production, sales, and coordinates the development of new products. Lastly, she pens widelyread articles and blogs on a regular basis.

Cara joined the staff at Tax Analysts in 2001, as a legal writer covering judicial and legislative developments in state and local taxation. Initially, she co-authored a weekly column for State Tax Notes – before leaving to take a position with PwC. After gaining valuable practice experience, she returned to Tax Analysts and began writing a well-followed column, which focused on important state tax issues affecting practitioners. In 2013, Cara was promoted to editor in chief of Tax Analysts’ state tax publications and then to other positions of increasing responsibility – before being selected to lead all the publications.

In addition to State Tax Notes, Cara has written for a broad range of tax policy publications, including The Tax Adviser, The Hedge Fund Law Report, and The Hill. Cara also has been a keynote speaker and panelist at major conferences and seminars, providing her expert insight on transparency in tax administration.

Cara graduated cum laude from the University of Evansville with a BA in political science, a BA in international studies. She also holds a JD from the George Washington University Law School. She lives in Vienna, VA with her husband and two children.
