Planning

The time to start is now

The benefits you gain from studying abroad cannot be overstated. International experience will set you apart when you launch your career. By immersing yourself in a foreign culture, you’ll learn firsthand how to work with people from all over the world—a highly desirable skill in global enterprises. On your resume, a study abroad experience demonstrates to employers that you are independent, confident, sensitive to diverse cultures, and have important life skills.

In short, it makes you more employable.

Plan early

A lot goes into planning your study abroad experience, so be sure to start early. If you are a freshman, tell your advisor now that you are thinking about going abroad, and start planning your required courses accordingly.  If you are an upperclassman, it’s not too late! Make an appointment with your advisor in the Carson College of Business Center for Student Success.

Next Steps to Take to Study Abroad

1. Attend a Global Cougs 101 Session in the Global Learning Office

2. Schedule a meeting with your Global Learning Advisor

3. Meet with your Academic Advisor

4. Attend Carson College of Business Study Abroad Information Sessions

5. If you have questions about the Carson College of Business faculty-led programs schedule a meeting with Courtney Anne Jackson, the International Study Abroad Coordinator. Appointments can be made through the Carson Center front desk: 509-335-5480.

Choose your program

Evaluate the many program choices and determine what will fit best into your academic plan. For guidance, make an appointment with your study abroad advisor in the Carson Center.

As a Carson College student, you have a unique opportunity to participate in faculty-led programs: WSU courses, taught by WSU professors to WSU students abroad.

Financial considerations
