Delaney to Head the Carson College’s Development Team

Nicholas S. Delaney is the new senior director of development for the Carson College of Business.

Delaney (’03) brings over 32 years of combined experience in senior management, business, financial services, and fundraising. He holds certifications as an investment management analyst and a private wealth advisor.

“Over the summer as the COVID pandemic unfolded, I reassessed my career. When I saw the chief development role at my alma mater, I immediately applied,” says Delaney. “I’m energized to work with Carson alumni, faculty, and staff.”

“Nick’s industry experience and investment expertise, combined with his passion for WSU, will be great assets for our college,” says Chip Hunter, Carson College dean. “His leadership will be essential as we build fundraising efforts to push us toward our goal of becoming the top choice for business education in the Pacific Northwest.”

Delaney will lead and mentor the college’s development team and collaboratively implement an overall strategic plan to maximize external support for college programs.

Delaney previously served the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, deepening alumni relationships and support in the Seattle metropolitan area, Bay Area, and other U.S. regions.

Prior to Darden, Delaney led the alumni relations program in the southern states for the University of Michigan College of Engineering. He also coauthored an investment education curriculum for UM development officers.

Within the financial services industry, Delaney was senior vice president and lead manager of an investment team in Florida, with approximately $800 million in trust and fiduciary assets.

“I’ve loved traveling back to Washington over these past few years,” says Delaney. “I’m inspired by the Carson College team and look forward to contributing to WSU’s efforts as a top-ranked research university.”
