Certify in a Major
Our certification process has changed!
I applied to certify into a major in the Carson College of Business. What happens next?
Once you have applied to certify, you will receive an email notifying you whether you have certified into the Carson College of Business. Certification can take one to two weeks to process.
Certified: You will be responsible for enrolling into the upper division business courses on your enrollment date/time.
Hold: You will receive notification of our decision at the end of the term and we process certification. If you certify, you will be responsible for enrolling yourself into your upper division business courses. The Carson College of Business does reserve seats in the upper division business courses for students certifying at the end of the term.
Denied: If you do not certify into the Carson College of Business, please reach out to your academic advisor to help you determine your next steps.

Below are the courses you should take the first semester that you are certified based on your major. If you are planning to study abroad, please schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to adjust your course schedule.
Accounting Majors:

Note to HBM Students: If you have not already taken HBM 280, you must take it the first semester you are certified. |

Please Note:
Your certification will be revoked if you do not meet our minimum certification requirements at the end of the term. If you are not doing as well as expected this semester, please plan on alternative courses to take in case you are decertified. You will not be eligible for upper division business courses if you are decertified.
Hold Notification: Next Step
Acceptance is competitive and satisfying the minimum certification requirements does not guarantee certification. For now, please register for an alternative set of courses to ensure you have a schedule set up in case you do not certify.The Carson College of Business reserves seats in our upper division business courses for students certifying at the end of the semester.
