Study Abroad & COVID-19

Due to COVID-19 and current travel restrictions, the Carson College of Business cannot guarantee when study abroad will resume. We are both hopeful and cautiously optimistic that programs will resume in spring 2022. Students interested in studying abroad should continue to plan with their Academic Advisor to meet deadlines for their desired term (Plan A), however students must have back-up plans to complete degree requirements if their term is canceled (Plan B). To start planning for study abroad you can make appointments with the Global Learning Office.

Students concerned about the impact of COVID-19 cancellations on their study abroad degree requirements should see the following updates to determine how cancellations could affect their requirements.

The Global Learning Badge Program is a new initiative that International Programs rolled out in fall 2020. The program is 24 hours over 14 weeks where students will achieve similar learning outcomes to those that we hope they get on study abroad by attending different events, speakers, completing reflection assignments, etc. It will all be online and available to all campuses for free. The badge learning outcomes align with the AAC&U Global Learning Value Rubric. Badges will be tracked by Global Learning through their myStudyAbroad system.

If you have questions about your specific study abroad requirements, please feel free to reach out to the Assistant Director for the International Business Institute, Courtney Anne Jackson, at courtney.a.jackson@wsu.edu or your Academic Advisor.
