The Master of Accounting program prepares you to excel as a professional accountant in financial institutions, government, industry, nonprofit organizations, and public practice. Take a closer look at these advantages.
Excellent preparation for the CPA exam
Many students enroll in the program to complete the fifth year of education (more specifically, the 150 semester hours of college credit) required to take the CPA exam. While it’s not a requirement that the additional 30 hours be graduate credit, many students see the Master of Accounting program as the best option to prepare them for the exam.
Hone skills valued in the business world
You’ll gain expertise in both accounting research and theory while completing the 32-credit program. That approach provides greater breadth and depth in accounting than is possible in baccalaureate or general business degree programs.
Small class sizes ensure you’ll have frequent opportunities to interact with faculty and excel in your studies.
Focus on current business trends
You’ll discover that our faculty incorporate future-focused theories and practices into their teaching. You’ll learn in-depth about topics such as emerging technologies, operative business planning, and innovative management techniques.
Highly rated program
Our program is one of only four accounting master’s degrees in Washington accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Carson College degree programs at all levels are AACSB-accredited, putting the College among the exclusive 4% of colleges and universities worldwide similarly accredited.
You’ll receive ongoing opportunities to network with potential employers. The College enjoys strong partnerships with numerous firms, especially in Seattle. Among the companies that have hired recent Carson College graduates: Boeing, Daimler Benz, Neal Analytics, McKinsey Research, Apptio, and Huron Consulting.

The professors who teach your courses are widely published and nationally recognized in their fields for their scholarship and research achievements.
“Through the Accounting Department, I have been given the resources and direction to guide myself into my dream job: working for one of the “Big Four” accounting firms. I already have a job lined up for when I graduate from the MAcc program, and most of my colleagues can say the same.”
