As the end of the spring semester draws near, and we prepare to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduating students, it’s a natural moment to reflect on the experiences that shape a Carson College education. In this issue of eDividend, we highlight the international opportunities that prepare our graduates for life beyond Carson—experiences that broaden perspective, deepen understanding, and help our students and alumni thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.

Ella Spillane (’21 Intl. Busi., Mktg.) began her career as a portfolio development principal at Boeing Ventures, which gave her exposure to talented entrepreneurs and leaders from around the world. At the same time, she founded Trailbound Yoga, a venture that blends outdoor travel and mindfulness, with an upcoming trip planned in the Italian Dolomites.

For Clara Sandell (’26 Intl. Busi.), studying abroad in Thailand wasn’t just about seeing new places—it was an opportunity to test her independence and experience the kind of cultural immersion that shapes both personal and professional growth.

Joseph Scott Gladstone, an associate professor (career track) at WSU Everett, is working with partners at the University of Melbourne to explore how Indigenous perspectives can influence the way organizations think about leadership, entrepreneurship, and decision-making.

As gambling markets expand and evolve around the world, Carson College researchers are working alongside regulators, industry groups, and policymakers to better understand how to balance innovation with public well-being. Associate Professor Kahlil Simeon-Rose has become part of that conversation through advisory roles and collaborations that span North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

After a multi-year pause, the Carson College has restarted study abroad programming in China, sending students there in summer 2025 for the first time since 2019. A faculty-led program reintroduced students to hands-on global learning in one of the world’s most influential markets, and that momentum continued into spring 2026 with a bilateral exchange in Hong Kong and plans for additional cohorts to travel in the coming year.

According to new research published in Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, coauthored by Stephen Lee, assistant professor of management, not all workplace gossip is the same—and some forms may actually improve relationships and cooperation on the job—the impact of gossip depends on what people are talking about and why.

Serving on active duty as a C-17 pilot in the US Air Force, Zach Whittle (‘17 MBA) was first apprehensive about returning to business school for his master’s degree. Fast forward nearly a decade, Whittle still applies core lessons learned from the Carson College’s Online MBA program to his civilian leadership role at the aviation software company, ForeFlight.

For Amit Bedi (EMBA ’24), leadership isn’t confined to a single office, time zone, or even hemisphere. As a principal technical program manager at Collins Aerospace, Bedi directs interdisciplinary safety and reliability teams whose work spans India, France, Canada, the United States, Japan, China, and Australia.
