Carson College of Business

Faculty, Staff, and Doctoral Student Awards

Please assist in recognizing outstanding performance by Carson College faculty, staff, and doctoral students during the 2023-2024 academic year. This is an opportunity to acknowledge those who go above and beyond in their respective roles.

The annual awards ceremony will be held at the
All College Meeting on May 2 at 4 p.m.

Submissions documents are to be emailed no later than April 15

 

The online nomination forms for faculty, staff, and doctoral student awards can be obtained using the document links.

  • Please download the form to your computer
  • Fill it out (remembering to select the award name from the drop-down list provided)
  • Email to ccb.dean@wsu.edu

All faculty, staff, and doctoral students in the college may submit nominations, however we ask that nominators/nominees not be related.

Faculty Award Nomination

Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award

Awarded to an eligible faculty member who demonstrates outstanding commitment to excellence in teaching

Nominations should include:

  • A brief narrative explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award. The narrative should cite specific examples of relevant accomplishments and meritorious teaching.
  • If applicable, the impact of the faculty member’s teaching-related work within the discipline, the CCB, or WSU. For example, please describe any teaching-related scholarship, or committee work that helps demonstrate an outstanding commitment to teaching. Please include any internal or external recognition of note.
  • If available, student testimonials.
  • If available, teaching evaluations or summaries.
  • Any additional documentation of outstanding teaching innovation or accomplishments.

Outstanding Faculty Research Award

Awarded to an eligible faculty member for high quality research, publications, and dedication to scholarly accomplishments

Nominations should include:

  • A brief narrative explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award. The narrative should cite specific examples of publications and/or relevant research-related accomplishments.
  • If applicable, include evidence of the impact of the faculty member’s research that helps demonstrate an outstanding commitment to high-quality research. Please include any internal or external recognition of note.
  • Any additional documentation of outstanding research accomplishment.

Outstanding Faculty Service award

Awarded to an eligible faculty member with a record of significant contributions to the CCB and/or department beyond the norm

Nominations should include:

  • A brief narrative explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award. The narrative should cite specific examples of relevant contributions and service.
  • If applicable, the impact of the faculty member’s service within the department and/or CCB. For example, please describe how the faculty member’s service helped advance the department or CCB’s mission.
  • If available, any relevant testimonials concerning the faculty member’s service.
  • Any additional documentation of outstanding service.

Staff Award Nomination

Outstanding Staff Award for Student Engagement

The Outstanding Staff Award for Student Engagement recognizes staff members who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to fostering meaningful engagement between staff and students within the Carson College of Business. Recipients of this award exhibit outstanding efforts in creating inclusive and supportive environments that promote student success, well-being, and involvement in campus life.

Nominations should include:

  • A narrative explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award. The narrative should site specific examples demonstrating exceptional commitment to enhancing the overall student experience through involvement in activities, initiatives, and programs.
  • The narrative should provide concrete instances of noteworthy achievements that show a dedication to student engagement beyond work responsibilities.
    • How did the nominee provide a quality of service that exceeded job expectations?
    • How did the nominee exceed job expectations and achieve results beyond the scope of his/her job?
    • How did the nominee demonstrate exceptional initiative beyond what may have been expected?
    • How did the nominee’s actions positive impact students?
  • If available include faculty, staff, and/or student testimonials.

Outstanding Staff Award for Faculty Engagement

The Outstanding Staff Award for Faculty Engagement recognizes staff members who have played a significant role in promoting faculty within the Carson College of Business. This award acknowledges staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties to CCB faculty. Recipients of this award may demonstrate excellence in various areas, including providing exceptional support to faculty, playing a crucial role in supporting and empowering faculty members to excel in their roles, and contribute positively to the academic community.

Nominations should include:

  • A narrative explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award. The narrative should site specific examples demonstrating exceptional commitment to enhancing the overall faculty experience through involvement in activities, initiatives, and programs.
  • The narrative should provide concrete instances of noteworthy achievements that show a dedication to faculty engagement beyond work responsibilities.
    • How did the nominee provide a quality of service that exceeded job expectations?
    • How did the nominee exceed job expectations and achieve results beyond the scope of his/her job?
    • How did the nominee demonstrate exceptional initiative beyond what may have been expected?
    • How did the nominee’s actions positive impact faculty?
  • If available include faculty, staff, and/or student testimonials.

Outstanding Staff Award for College Engagement

The Outstanding Staff Award for CCB Excellence recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the CCB Mission through their pursuit of excellence in various activities, initiatives, and/or programs. Recipients of a college excellence award often exhibit qualities such as leadership, collaboration, innovation, mentorship, and a dedication to promoting a sense of belonging and connectedness among members of the Carson College of Business.

Nominations should include:

  • A narrative explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award. The narrative should site specific examples demonstrating exceptional commitment to enhancing the overall college experience through involvement in activities, initiatives, and programs.
  • The narrative should provide concrete instances of noteworthy achievements that show a dedication to college engagement beyond work responsibilities.
    • How did the nominee provide a quality of service that exceeded job expectations?
    • How did the nominee exceed job expectations and achieve results beyond the scope of his/her job?
    • How did the nominee demonstrate exceptional initiative beyond what may have been expected?

Student Award Nomination

Outstanding Doctoral Student Teaching Award

Awarded to an eligible doctoral student who demonstrates outstanding commitment to excellence in teaching one or more courses independently

Nominations should include:

  • A brief narrative explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award. The narrative should cite specific examples of relevant accomplishments.
  • If applicable, the impact of the nominee’s teaching-related work within the discipline, the CCB, or WSU. For example, please describe any teaching-related scholarship, or committee work that helps demonstrate an outstanding commitment to teaching. Please include any internal or external recognition of note.
  • If available, student testimonials.
  • If availalbe, teaching evaluations or summaries.
  • Any additional documentation of outstanding teaching innovation, accomplishments, and/or enhancing the educational experience.

Outstanding Doctoral Student Research Award

Awarded to an eligible doctoral student for performance on a graduate student’s own research or in support of a faculty member’s research

Nominations should include:

  • A brief narrative explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award. The narrative should cite specific examples of publications and/or relevant research-related accomplishments.
  • If applicable, include evidence of the impact of the nominee’s research that helps demonstrate an outstanding commitment to high-quality research. Please include any internal or external recognition of note.
  • Any additional documentation of outstanding research accomplishment.

Outstanding Doctoral Student Teaching Assistant Award

Awarded to an eligible doctoral student who demonstrates exceptional skills at assisting faculty with their courses

Nominations should include:

  • A brief narrative explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award. The narrative should cite specific examples of relevant accomplishments.
  • If applicable, the impact of the nominee’s work on a course or a faculty member’s teaching. Please include any internal or external recognition of note.
  • If applicable, faculty member testimonials.
  • If available, student testimonials.
  • If applicable, teaching evaluations or summaries.
  • Any additional documentation of outstanding teaching innovation, accomplishments, and/or enhancing the educational experience.
